Why would I get really excited about a gasoline B-Class you might ask? Well for one they don’t sell gasoline B-Classes in the US, and I had a rental one for 10 days in Europe and really liked it, so much that I kinda want one. Probably because you want the things you can’t have. Saw this when I was on the outskirts of Savannah, rocking Canadian plates.

There is a B-Class running around Raleigh/Cary, NC with NC plates. I don’t have any other information than that.

Possibly an electric one, saw this one in ATL back in October of 2015. They sell the electric one here, just not a gas/diesel one.

If it’s light blue, it’s an electric one.

I’ve seen one on the road in Northern Virginia. Think it was diesel.

Are US import laws so strict that Canadian B-classes can’t be registered? I know about the rule regarding imports being at least 25 years old, but it’s not uncommon for Canadians to buy cars in the US and register them in their own province. Used ones are prevalent and seem very reasonably priced for something with that badge and practicality.

I think it would be a massive head ache. I’m pretty sure the engine would meet emissions and they sell the electric B-Class here, but I don’t think it would be easy since they don’t sell a gas B-Class here. You’d have to get a letter of compliance from the manufacturer, or something like that, and I doubt Mercedes would help with that. It might be possible, but is it worth a massive headache? When they release the B45 AMG, then maybe.
